Častým společným znakem různých pracovišť bývá hlučné prostředí. Takové prostředí nám může při určité frekvenci a hlasitosti způsobit trvalé poškození nebo dokonce ztrátu sluchu. Proto je nutné používat různé typy ochrany od zátkových chráničů sluchu (dle normy EN 353-2), které mohou být určeny k jednorázovému nebo k opakovanému užití, dále mušlové chrániče sluchu (dle normy EN 353-1). Samozřejmostí jsou i chrániče sluchu s možností připnutí na pracovní přilbu (dle normy EN 352-3).
