          Types of spirit levels

          Types of spirit levels
A spirit level is a tool that can’t be missed at home, in the workshop or on the construction site. If you do not want to deal with inequalities caused by inaccurate measurements, this article will help you.

A spirit level is a tool that can’t be missed at home, in the workshop or on the construction site. If you do not want to deal with inequalities caused by inaccurate measurements, this article will help you.
The spirit level determines the horizontal or vertical position of the surface. It is produced in different sizes and shapes, which allows them to be used in different situations and environments. It can be said to be an integral part of the instruments used to measure plane and height.
The measurement tolerance is given in mm/m or degrees. It ranges from 0.25 mm/m (0.014°) up to 2 mm/m. In the inverted position, the measurement is not as accurate, as the level is put in line with the main measuring surface during the manufacturing process of the spirit level.
When choosing a suitable spirit level, we must first consider the purpose of use, maximum weight, measurement accuracy and other functions that could facilitate daily use.
The bubble level is a compact instrument that consists of two chambers filled with water. These chambers are connected by a hose and the spirit level works on the principle of balance. The most important part of every classic spirit level is the level. The level of the liquid in a still state is always horizontal, therefore the air bubble in the spirit level aligns to the center.
It is important to handle the tool with care. It could be damaged, which could affect the accuracy of the measurement.

          TYPES OF SPIRIT LEVELS

          1) Profile (classic, most used, high strength and lower weight)

          2) Precise (high sensitivity, higher accuracy, mainly used in interior construction)

          3) Plastic(light weight, use for example when laying tiles or stoneware)

          4) Made of aluminum alloy (robust and heavy cast aluminum body with milled measuring surface, use in demanding conditions)

          5) Hose(high precision, used mainly in construction for leveling two distant points)

          6) Magnetic(use where the balanced elements contain a ferromagnetic substance)

          7) Digital(high precision, built-in digital module with a display showing the current slope in degrees, percent or mm/m, can also be with bluetooth)

          8) Laser (supplemented with a laser beam, the beam projects a plane onto the wall)

          9) Mini (pocket level, use in places where the use of a long level is impractical or unnecessary)

          10) Mechanical(high precision, use in engineering production)

If we are choosing a spirit level for home use, whether for assembling shelves, adding a TV holder or fixing pictures, a plastic or aluminum spirit level with a practical length of 40 cm will be sufficient. If we buy a spirit level for the workshop, the most versatile length is 120 cm, which can be used to measure even larger surfaces. Here it is better to choose a higher quality, a metal one. For construction, we will definitely use longer spirit levels (2m or more), which can also perform the function of a retractable slat. Here, manipulation is more demanding, so it’s better to ask someone for a help.
