What are the types of screwdriver bits?

What are the types of screwdriver bits?
There are a lot of different shapes of bits on the market and today we will look at what they are. They differ mainly in the type of screw head for which they are intended.
Screwdriver bits are interchangeable ends for screwdrivers and drills that allow you to screw in different types of screws. They are made of different materials (e.g. steel, titanium, tungsten) and have different types of ends depending on the screw head.

The most common types of bits can be found in the following table:

          • flat/slotted (SL - slot) - classic straight bit

          • cross (PH - Phillips) - classic cross bit

          • cross with a slot (PZ - Pozidriv) - for greater grip and stability

          • Torx (Tx) - star shape, minimum torque required

          • Robertson (R) - square bits

There are also other, less well-known types of bits. These include, for example:

AW, Torx with a hole, XZN (dodecagonal), Tri-wing, Torq-set, five-star, etc.

The bits are further divided into:

          1. Standard bits
          ◦ without torsion zone
          ◦ with torsion zone
          2. Extended bits
          ◦ without torsion zone
          ◦ with torsion zone
          3. Double-sided bits
          4. Drywall bits

          Basic selection of screwdriver bits

There are a variety of screwdriver bits, and each bit has slightly different properties and is suitable for working with different materials. How do we choose the right one?

          Thread forming

Internal thread forming is a chipless technology for thread production. The thread is not cut, but formed by pushing the material out. In this way, threads can be made from materials that are easily cold-formed, with a minimum tensibility of 10%.
